About Bee and Flower
"Suspension", Bee and Flower's third full-length album (release date April 2012 on Cheap Satanism Records), is their most focused and direct recording to date. The album redefines the band's twisted-yet-catchy melodies, heartbreaking swoons, and fierce dark landscapes to glittering effect. Led by smoky voiced singer/bassist/songwriter Dana Schechter, "Suspension" features the NYC and Berlin-based band members, whose involvements include Angels of Light, American Music Club, Keren Ann, And the Wiremen, Botanica, and more. Special guests include Paul Watson (Sparklehorse), Martin Wenk (Calexico), Danny Tunick (Barbez), Toby Dammit (Swans), and string arrangement by J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus, Kronos Quartet). History: Bee and Flower was founded in 1999 in New York City by singer-songwriter, bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Dana Schechter and keyboardist Roderick Miller, they released their first album "What's Mine Is Yours" in 2003 relocated to Berlin, Germany, in 2004. Released in 2007 and made in Berlin, Bee and Flower's second album, "Last Sight of Land", features a 25-piece string section, a whirlwind of grand pianos, vintage electronics, delicate melodic percussion, a mammoth 'bass section', keyboards, guitars, lap steels, and sweeping vocal choirs. Toby Dammit, the album's Producer, who relocated to Berlin along with Dana and Rod, constructed the vision for the new album; Toby is an internationally-acclaimed drummer and classically trained symphonic percussionist. Bee and Flower also features many accomplished guest musicians and collaborators on their albums and live performances. As of 2011, the band is now split between Berlin and NYC; the NY members include Schechter plus the return of original members Lynn Wright (guitar) and Jon Petrow (violin). Members Roderick Miller (keyboards), Thomas Fietz (drums) and Joni Heine (guitar) live in Berlin.
