About Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew
Kevin Drew is a Canadian musician and songwriter who, together with Brendan Canning, founded the expansive Toronto baroque-pop collective Broken Social Scene. He was also part of the lesser-known KC Accidental, which consisted of Drew and Charles Spearin, another current member of Broken Social Scene. On 8th of June 2007, music website Pitchfork reported that Broken Social Scene co-founder Kevin Drew was recording a "solo" album, which features many other members of BSS, including Ohad Benchetrit and Charles Spearin. The album is titled "Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew, "Spirit If...". It is intended to be the first in a series of "Broken Social Scene Presents..." albums with a similar follow up by fellow BSS founder Brendan Canning to be released in 2008, and another by producer and BSS contributor Dave Newfeld to be released sometime in the future. [2] The album was recorded throughout 2005 and 2006 in Ohad Benchetrit's house while the band was not on tour. Although billed as a solo project, it features numerous guest artists, many Broken Social Scene members. The album was released September 18, 2007. ---------------- Spirit If... by Kevin Drew is the first in a series of "Broken Social Scene Presents". The album features the single "Backed Out On The..." On Spirit If..., Drew is joined by J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) and Scott Kannberg (Pavement, Preston School Of Industry), piano master Gonzales, Ohad Benchechrit and Charles Spearin (Do Make Say Think), Joules Scott-Key (Metric, Bang Lime), Andrew Kenny (The American Analog Set) and Canadian icon, Tom Cochrane.
