About Francesqa
Francesqa were a pop/rock band from Newbury, UK. Forming from the remains of two previous local bands, Greenacre and Monroe, Francesqa features Ashley Wilkie on vocals, Tom Millar on guitars, Ben Hordos on bass and Warren Senior on drums. Their sound is reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, Paramore and UK based act Futures. In the summer of 2009 the band self released a three track EP that subsequently became available on iTunes and from the band at shows (a fourth track entitled 'boy' became available as a b-side on the iTunes release). The band also played across much of the south of England in the latter half of 2009, often seen with likes of Canterbury and Lights And Sounds as well as embarking on their first mini-tour alongside Bayonets. Having already entered the studio in December 2009 with producer Peter Miles, Francesqa completed work on their followup EP, 'We Lived' during the beginning of 2010, independently releasing the five track record on July 19th 2010. The second half of 2010 predominantly saw the band writing and demoing for an upcoming full length which they plan to release in 2011. The band also headlined two sold out shows in London and Birmingham, joined Seattle act Aiden as main support on their UK tour throughout November, and supported The Pretty Reckless across four dates in December. February 2011 saw the re-release of the 'We Lived' EP featuring acoustic renditions of popular songs as well a DVD documenting the bands two sold out headline shows in November 2010 plus the recording of their latest single 'All I Had' - which itself was released on February 14th 2011 and received airtime on BBC Radio 1. The single's video also garnered extensive views on the video sharing site Youtube within the first few days of its release. February 2011 also saw the band embark on their first full UK headline tour with support from Baltimore, USA based The Dangerous Summer. May of the same year, they planned to embark on another full UK b-market tour, but in May 2011, guitarist Joe Hicks left the band. In November 2011, the band decided, after the loss of Joe Hicks to call it a day, releasing several new demos onto iTunes for their fans.
