About Hellions
A Hellion: a rowdy, mischievous, troublesome person... A description that perfectly defines the spirit of this rejuvenated bunch of Western Sydney youngsters, one that is hell-bent on delivering erratic, rebellious and confronting music that challenges the concept of what is and isn't acceptable within the confines of their chosen genres. After The Bride hung up their boots earlier this year, three-fifths of the group immediately got to work on their follow up project. Dissatisfied with the creative redundancy they often found themselves surrounded by, the trio - drummer Anthony Caruso, guitarist Matthew Gravolin and bassist turned vocalist Dre Faivre - now known as Hellions, set out to expand their sonic palette, incorporating a wider range of sounds and ideas into their already boundary-pushing amalgamation of metal, hardcore and punk rock, drawing reference from groups as diverse as Stray From The Path, Defeater and Rage Against The Machine. Having penned an album's worth of material in just two short months, this driven and refocused cluster of musicians journeyed to Karma Sound Studios in Thailand in March / April, where they recorded their stunning full-length with longtime engineer and friend, Shane Edwards, of Electric Sun Studios. (House VS Hurricane, Tonight Alive). Titled Die Young, the twelve-track effort is as lyrically and musically abrasive a release you'll hear this year, with Australian powerhouse UNFD quickly adding Hellions to its ranks, alongside Northlane, Dream On Dreamer and In Hearts Wake. Featuring Adrian Fitipaldes (Northlane), the disc's lead cut, "Infamita," is a weighty debut that provides but a taste of what Die Young has to offer.
