About Koro
There is more than one artist under this name: 1. Koro was a hardcore punk band from Knoxville, Tennessee, that existed from 1982 to 1984. The band might have been forgotten if not for a remarkable self-released 8 song 7", recorded in 1983. The 7" has been bootlegged twice, once in small quantities with a cover similar to the original, and once recently with a different cover and lyrics. They gained their name from a psychiatric syndrome found mainly in China. The syndrome involves patients, typically 35-40 years old, who "suddenly become worried that their penis will somehow disappear into their abdomen and that they will die." To prevent this from happening, the patient has to grip his penis firmly. When he becomes tired, his wife, relatives, or friends help him. Sometimes a special wooden clamp is used to grip his penis. At times, fellatio, performed immediately by the patient's wife, can alleviate the phobia; otherwise, it can last for days, or even weeks. 2. KorO is an alternative rock/post-punk/new-wave band from Kyiv, Ukraine, comprised of members Oleg Korsun (vocals, guitars) and Ivan Shapkin (backing vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, programming). The idea of this mutual music project was born quite a long time ago (in the beginning of 2007) when the members were both a part of the band Nowhereland and felt that they wanted to create a little bit different music. After Ivan Shapkin had quit his collaboration with Nowhereland on March 2007, the project started, though in fact, Oleg Korsun's taking part in Nowhereland did not leave much time for work. In the summer of 2008, when other musicians of Nowhereland left the group, Oleg decided to cancel the Nowhereland project and started to work with Ivan Shapkin on the KorO project only. They released their first EP, Rain Never Stops, in 2010. 3. Koro is a free noise band consisting of three members of Cologne's improvisational scene, Olaf Rupp (guitars), Dr Borg (guitars) and Der Präsident (drums). 4. koro is a Japanese arranger and the leader of the doujin music circle mistbell.
