Meet people through music
Mimas first started playing together in 2004. Quickly developing a unique understanding of one another, the four friends began writing and creating songs together. The following year they released an EP and were invited to play at the legendary Roskilde Festival. The band then started refining their sound before finally releasing their acclaimed debut album The Worries in the UK in October 2008 through Big Scary Monsters Recordings. The album was released in the rest of Europe through Parisian label Distile Records. The years prior to this release were spent touring, particularly in the UK, which earned them a reputation as a spectacular live act. Additionally, Mimas have also toured Germany, France, Luxemburg, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. The band have played more than 100 shows internationally and have shared stages with bands such as Menomena, Sunset Rubdown, Mono, Why? and Caspian. In 2010 they were invited to play at the prestigious industry festival Spot in Denmark where they showcases several songs from their second album, Lifejackets. Lifejackets was released in October and November through Big Scary Monsters (UK) and Pad & Pen Records (Scandinavia) and is set to be released in Germany May 2011. Lifejackets was mixed by the Addi 800 (Blur, Sigur Rós, Björk) from Iceland and mastered by Grammy-nominee Chris Tsangarides (Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy). Mimas also had a van called 'Satan' once. It died and left them stranded in Burgos on their way to Madrid. A few hours later, Michael Jackson died.
