About Morphosis
There are at least three artists named Morphosis. Please do not delete information for the other bands, as per the Last.fm FAQ. 1) Morphosis (born Rabih Beaini), also known as Ra.H, has been crafting away in the nether-regions of the techno underworld since the 90's. Initially as a DJ, it was the move to Italy in 1996 which proved the catalyst for him to start experimenting in the studio. And he really did experiment: few people craft the sort of emotional, imaginative techno as does Beaini - for labels such as Sistrum Recordings, M>O>S and Styrax. Whilst his productions join the dots between raw, elementary electronica and jazz, for the last six years his label Morphine Records has released an equally avant guard selection of techno from the likes of Madteo, Hieroglyphic Being and Anthony "Shake" Shakir. Now back in Lebanon to continue his various musical projects in his homeland, including a new Upperground Orchestra album, Beaini continues to do what he does best - make electronic music with depth and intrigue. As such, keen followers of techno will already have heard some of the offerings from his most recent project, a new Morphosis album "What Have We Learned" (released April 2011 on M>O>S/Delsin/Morphine), as both "Androids Among Us" and "Dirty Matter" were remixed by T++ and Newworldaquarium for a limited edition white label late last year. The excitement surrounding that release was palpable enough, but get lost in a full length Morphosis experience (be it live in a club or via one of his own records at home) and you enter a whole new world of techno excellence. 2) Morphosis was a Finnish thrash metal band from Kuusamo. Finland's Morphosis was formed in 1988 and it was the first band of Demonos Sova, who later moved from Kuusamo to Kuopio and formed Darkfeast/Barathrum. Finnish Morphosis released two demos. 3) Morphosis is a name familiar to older veterans of the Irish metal scene, with founding members Vinnie (guitar) and George (bass/vocals) working together since 1985. In 1990 they recorded the Conflagration demo under the name of Asphyxia. Shortly after they changed their name to Morphosis and recorded the Modus Operandi 1993 and Malicious Malfiguration 1995 demos. In 2005, after a decade of inactivity the band reformed. The current line-up is completed by Squelch (vocals) and Andy (drums). The full-length album "Rise of the Bastard Deities" was recorded in Trackmix studios between June and October 2008. It was released on Sentinal Records.
