About Myka, Relocate
Coming together from three states to find a home in Houston, Texas, Myka Relocate inject hope into a scene that is notorious for burnout and stagnation. As one of the most explosive bands to take on the Lone Star State in years, Myka Relocate draw inspiration from a variety of musical sources, with influences ranging from Circa Survive and Underoath to more contemporary names like The Devil Wears Prada and Sleeping with Sirens. The band's commanding guitar lines and strategically placed electronic elements have expanded their signature sound beyond the stereotype of what heavy music has come to be known. By combining hard-hitting riffs and clever electro-glitch samples with a seamless blend of vicious screaming and melodic singing offered by the band's dual vocalists, Myka Relocate's musical craftsmanship has unleashed an unbridled wave of sonic fury that has been catching on with listeners across the country. Though several members of Myka Relocate have been playing together for more than four years, the current incarnation of the band joined forces in January 2011. "Some of the guys have known each other for years, but when we finally started playing music together as this group, we had a mutual feeling that this was it," says Ritter. "We all knew that if we ever had a shot at making music that reflected our true potential, music that we wouldn't have to second-guess ourselves about, these were the guys who were going make it happen." The band's undeniable chemistry has laid the foundation for a work ethic unmatched by most unsigned acts. "We take a lot of pride in our songwriting and also in what we have to offer when people see us live," Ritter explains. "Because of that, as soon as we laid down some solid tracks in the studio, it was important for us to get on tour." In its short history, the band has embarked on two east coast tours, three regional tours, and has shared the stage with the likes of Asking Alexandria, We Came as Romans and Saosin. Over the summer, the band was even invited to take the stage at their hometown's Van's Warped Tour stop. More recently, the unrelenting word-of-mouth buzz circling the band has put them on the industry radar. As one of the highest drawing locals in their genre, Myka Relocate was offered the opportunity to play the Unsilent Night music festival in Dallas, Texas where they will share the stage with powerhouse acts like All Time Low, Breathe Carolina, and As Cities Burn. Handpicked by producer Drew Fulk (Miracle at St. Anna, Delusions), the band recorded ten tracks at ThinkSound Studios in Greensboro, North Carolina. A full-length is in the works for 2012, along with a national tour this winter.
