About Rout
Rout is an electronic, drum & bass and dubstep side-project of Roughton "Rou" Reynolds, lead vocalist of the British post-hardcore band Enter Shikari hailing from St. Albans, UK. The Rout project was started in 2007 and was previously named Shark & Blitz and prior to that Routron 5000. His music is influenced by 90's rave, breakbeat and dance music such as The Prodigy as a teenager and later trance such as Tiesto. Also blink-182, Nirvana Radiohead and other rock, alternative, punk, grunge and hardcore bands are influences of his. He takes alot of pride in his home town of St. Albans and the thriving music scene with bands such as Cry For Silence. As he has become older and discovered newer genres he has become interested in other dubstep artists such as Rusko, 16 Bit, Nero and Stenchman. He is also strongly influenced by the Zeitgeist movement, the Green Party and his music is loosely based around the worlds climate change, economic and political problems. He often performs with Enter Shikari's drummer Rob Rolfe who takes to the decks as Sgt. Rolfy. Rou's download-only E.P Spirit of Humanity was released on the 5th April 2010 on his website Rout Music. In the USA, Rout is a hardcore band from Providence, Rhode Island.
