Meet people through music
Wives was a hardcore/punk trio from Los Angeles, California, U.S. consisting of guitarist Randy Randall, bassist/vocalist Dean Spunt, and drummer Jeremy Villalobos. In the three years the band were together, they released a self-titled 7" Wives on Post Present Medium, as well as a split 7" with K.I.T on Post Present Medium. In September 2004 the band released their first full-length LP, titled Erect The Youth Problem, on Cold Sweat Records. In June 2005, the band released a split 12" with Moving Units, also on Post Present Medium. In November 2005, following a European tour the band split, playing their farewell show as support for Washington DC math rockers Medications on November 20 at the Buffalo Bar in Highbury, London. This final set though, ended early when Randall smashed a glass bottle against his guitar and lodged a large shard of glass into the palm of his right hand. Spunt and Randall reunited to perform the final Wives set for the independent film 40 Bands/80 Minutes! which was filmed on March 6 2006 in Hollywood, CA. The two have since formed the band No Age who played their first show at The Smell on April 1, 2006. On October 31st 2011 Pitchfork announced there would be a final release from the band under Post Present Medium out December 6th. It is titled "Roy Tapes", because the collection was recorded with the band's then-new drummer, Roy Tatum; Best Coast's Bobb Bruno handled the recording duties.
