Last.fm : how does it really work?
A friend of mine today told that last.fm is ideal to discover new music. She said it was like Grooveshark but with larger catalogue at first glimpse.
Seems interesting because, no, not all songs are on YouTube or Grooveshark, and Spotify I believe is quite expensive. I buy CDs regularly, I usually listen to some tracks on YouTube first and then if i like what I hear I head to the record store.
However, there's two things I am unsure of when last.fm is concerned:
- there seems to be a wall of messages which reminds me of Facebook (and I dislike Facebook!)
- doesn't Last.fm per default install software on your PC listing the songs you play on your computer or on YouTube? Or is this only optional? (I prefer to list the songs I listen to myself, then I can at least filter the guilty pleasures :))
