At least the people are recent users unlike a lot I find through normal search. the normal search is another monster altogether. lol. but when you do click the GET LUCKY! button which profiles would you like to see first @GreenWyvern?Which ones I want to see depend on what criteria I'm looking for:Dating - fairly local (with some sort of selection as I have two main areas I socialise in), high compatibility on music and other selection criteria.Gig-buddies - further afield, maybe less correlation in music but still a certain amount.Music discovery - anywhere but with some correlation in music.New friends - anywhere.I've ticked the lot so the only filters seem to be age and sex. That throws a lot of uninteresting profiles at me - too far away with no musical crossover, closer with some random likes off my profile in common. In comparison with the normal search, it is better as I don't see the not visited for over a week profiles and there are genuinely interesting profiles further afield in Europe who might make for good meetups at festies. In the normal search I'd also like to see more sub-genre based selection. There is an amazing amount of bands out there and I keep finding more in sub-genres I like that I have never heard of. I like other genres of music to some extent but I don't necessarily think that one or two artists in that vein in your likes necessarily constitutes a match. Typing in a band name doesn't help much if the other person likes them but doesn't want to crowd out their tastes or just hasn't thought to include them. thanks @GreenWyvern for the valuable input! i'm sure the Tastebuds staff is listening and will take everything you shared into sincere consideration. your idea regarding including more sub-genre bands will make an even greater impact here: http://tastebuds.fm/topics/834-suggest-a-new-tastebuds-feature! I realised that - I've already posted :) you're a repeat offender @GreenWyvern. i don't want to see you back in this court again until after you've completed 100 hours of music community service. case closed. lol
I can't think of anything else I want to add, except that the Get Lucky seems to be throwing more profiles that I can't see a link to mine with.
I don't, and i'm not mad because of it. I'm just saying my opinion, cheers!
Just don't use it. Problem solved. ;)
@BloodJuNkie. haha. somehow i imagine though if you clicked it a few more times your luck would change -- for the better.
Man seriously, i don't like that way. I hate dating sites in general so IMO this "Get Lucky" features is one of the drawbacks of tastebuds. :D
The button is just a randomiser, some people are putting too much thought into it. Click it to see a random person, that's it. It's called 'get lucky' because one day you might get lucky and land on a person you have lots in common with. Whether that person is in the same town as you is irrelevant, that button isn't for dating specifically (nor is the site in general).
