Royal Blood (the band from Brighton) aren't showing up properly on the artist search and instead the Royal Blood artist page describes how there are 3 bands called Royal Blood. Given the duo from Brighton called Royal Blood are becoming extremely successful and more popular, I think they deserve a page just for them. They're also one of my favourite artists!
as did i - about two and a half weeks ago.
and that's skogen, with a lowercase 's'. it's not a name. it means "the forest" in Norwegian and Swedish.
whatever, dude. it's not my site. i don't have to defend it from anyone who chooses to criticize any aspect of it. you've decided that's what you wish to do. your baby, and all that. fine.
honestly, my intention was to try to suggest a way to improve your site with a worthwhile feature suggestion. that is, after all, what is typed at the top of this page: "What do you think? What would you like to see added?"
others seemed to like the idea. you guys didn't. oh, well. that is your right.
being flat-out ignored on the subject a few times was, i admit, a bit frustrating, but whatever. again, your site. you guys run it the way you want.
i think i'm at the point where i'm going to draw a line and decline to answer anything else that you have to say. we obviously do not agree on much of anything. ..and i think that i'm thankful for that.
It wasn't a mixture, since: 1) we do have the technology, 2) being a small team is a choice, and 3) lazy has nothing to do with it, we just decided other things were more important.
Incorrect again, Skogen. I notice a theme developing.
ah, truth will out. so the true answer was a mixture of answers 1, 2 & 3, as i suspected.
thanks for your openmindedness @ChuckYoungblood on my worthwhile feature suggestion.
It's worth keeping in mind that what might seem to be a very simple idea could also become very complicated.
For example; what database do we use, does this database differentiate well enough between albums to avoid tribute stuff and so on, is the database large enough so people won't complain their favourite obscure album from the 50s isn't available, how do we present and implement the feature, what are the technical problems behind it, how do we communicate 500 albums on a user profile...etc.
We're a small team so can only focus on adding one thing at a time, realistically.
I'd like to support skogen's point about the albums. My point is, that there are very few features to define my musical taste. I can just put artists that I like to my taste list. That's not very differentiated. (Most user seem to put every artist they know, which is of course not your fault)
Your answer: "Just ask the person!" is valid. But.. If I'd like to know who's favorite album of Bob Dylan is also "Bringing it all back home", I have to ask almost everybody, since everybody has Bob Dylan on their taste list...
(So it would be more efficient using twitter with hashtag or something...)
Whatever.. I don't think you are lazy... You are doing a great job!! Go on!
Calling us lazy isn't reality, it's just you trying to pick a fight.
It is, actually. You might hate it, but that doesn't mean others do.
Could probably have something to do with this sort of attitude:
Anyway, the answer is none of the above:
A #4: anything can be added to the site, there are no technical limitations. However, some ideas are better than others, and maybe selecting specific albums just doesn't add any value to the majority of our users. We get probably 2-3 feature ideas per day and can't possibly implement them all.
