Forgotten Artists
I love Helen Humes. She’s one of the people that I “starred” as a favorite artist here in Tastebuds. But when I went to find other fans o’ Helen here, I came up empty in my own country. Then I tried worldwide: not one single Helen lover. I had an instant impulse - start a thread to laud Ms. Helen. But then my rational brain stepped in . . . there are surly more artists that other Tastebudders love alone – artists that it’d be cool to know about.
So, here's a thread where you can post about an artist that nobody (or almost nobody) else on the Worldwide Tastebuds Web loves, too. Please share a video, if you can, and some insight as to why that artist is spectacular.
For your edification, here is Helen and why I love her. Helen’s vocal talent is undeniable, and on every single Humes album that I own, she’s accompanied by equally spectacular musicians (and the interplay that she has with them attests to all their skill). She is deft and she puts love into every phrase of jazz and blues that she sings . . .
Not sure if it's gonna let me post a second video, but this one is a nice contrast from her earlier days
