A couple of months ago I went to see Robin Trower, I was in the front row, right in front of him, no more than ten feet away, so I could see the maestro's vibrato technique.
His guitar tech came to the front of the stage before the concert started, he said "I hope you guys realise, the only thing you're going to hear in those seats is the guitar"
Duh !
WTF did he think we were there for?
My ears are still ringing.
