Meet people through music
Formed in 1998, Landau was originally a union of four songwriter/ producers geared towards writing melodic electronic music. Their earliest influences included the 1990's Warp Scene, trip hop, drum & bass and western art music. The groups underlying goal and aesthetic has always been the seamless blend of acoustic and electronic sound. Landau's sound has often been compared to Plaid, Autechre, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Matmos amongst others. After releasing a series of offerings on Labels in England, Canada and the US the band released its first international debut on Merck Records, entitled The Epic Compromise. Since its release in 2004, the record has gained much international attention and praise. Since it's founding the band has undergone constant transformation under the influence of jazz, funk, dub and soul. The band has blossomed into several different projects that pay proper homage to these influences. The Landau Orchestra is a project that focuses towards a perfect blend of acoustic instruments (4 brass, 4 string, 2 wind) , piano and electronics. This project has a release being organized for next year. Landau now performs as an electro-acoustic quartet with an instrumentation that includes Acoustic Bass, Guitar, Rhodes, Accordion, Melodica, Drums, percussion, laptops, turntables and synths.
