Drug usage

I think drugs have always had a negative effect on authors. In general, I have experience in this and I can honestly say that it is hard to see a friend suffering and struggling with addiction. I'm sure everyone in this life has faced a moment when you don't always know what to say. Thanks to this article https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab-blog/things-to-say-when-someone-lost-a-loved-one-to-addiction/, I have finally begun to understand how to talk to my loved ones suffering from addiction.

Here's what I did and for my reasons...I tried smoking pot at around 15, wasn't a good exp. Tried every few years after that with the same result. I'm Hyper sensitive and it just puts my on the couch for 7 hours or so. Not good to do while playing a gig...After that I tried Meth, needed it for psychological reasons. It worked for me. Once I got what I needed, I quit. Tried it a few times after, but was a horrible exp. Lost half my teeth because of it and it screwed up some things in my brain. Overall, I don't regret it. But I started with some real issues that needed fixing. I would never recommend it.

I would say a great many people here of all ages have seen the dark side of drug use. At 50 I've lost many friends and have had my own life fall apart due to addiction. I think that we do only live once and rigid abstinence made me more depressed than when I was using. It's a personal decision, but I dis agree about the short term gains being all that rewarding , and the cost of long term usage being ignored. In the US media I would say that the opposite view is the most prevalent. Very, very, few people will speak about long term using due to being ostracized. I just want to make a personal statement, and not an endorsement that as an individual I have found using a vital part of my process. One thing for sure it forces me to really have my shit together because I know that "drug use" is the easiest excuse both for the addict and those that judge what they do solely on that criteria. thanks for letting me share. And yes. All of these were done with chemical enhancement, my own ridiculous need to create, and the knowledge that they could be simply dismissed as products of what our government deems contraband. It is too easy to judge people and proclaim their weaknesses. I know full well what I am doing and I accept the responsibility.

@alboy4 I'm missing an uncle and an aunt thanks to drug usage. I think, in general, that people take drugs for very different reasons and that everyone's reaction to them will be different, so the question is not as simple as it seems. In my experience however, I have seen how drug use can result in tragedy, time and time again, the short term gains are so rewarding, that the long term cost is often ignored. I would post the drugs don't work at this point, but it's a fucking awful song!!!
